The beautiful and incredibly talented, Jhené Aiko is back. Today the songstress returns with her third album, unleashing ‘CHILOMBO.’ The project is titled after her last name, serving as a celebration of the artist coming into her own. The project is certainly an evolved version of her past releases, offering something smooth and contagious in the process. Jhené Aiko embraces her strength and power, offering a unique and infectious collection of sounds in the process. She recently opened up about the album and its title.
Ms. Aiko stated: “‘Chilombo’ is a word that means ‘wild beast’ – they’re strong, confident and graceful.” She added, “Beasts are also beautiful.” The project includes an introduction to sound as a form of healing through what she calls “modern mantra,” as illustrated by her “triggered protection mantra.” The rest of the project is littered with twenty exceptional new tracks, including a handful of outstanding features along the way. Jhene pairs up with the likes of Nas, Ab-Soul, Future, Miguel, Ty Dolla $ign, Big Sean, John Legend, and her father. This is certainly not the one we’d suggest sleeping on.
