JID – “2007”

It’s never a bad day when we get some new music from JID. Today the ATLien is back with a brand new track entitled “2007.” The single arrives just a few days ahead of his upcoming album, The Forever Story. The track will not be found on the project, though it was supposed to be the outro. The track is a coming-of-age story about the artist. He weaves together an impressive display of his talents once again.

JID spoke about the track recently, stating: “As we draw near to The Forever Story, I wanna give insight on the process of trying to put together a solid body of work.” The wordsmith added, “Initially, I wanted to create an album that serves as an origin story and speaks to who I am and what I came from. This song has been in the works for 2 years and supposed to be the outdo on the album. Things didn’t work out, but this story is too pertinent to the picture we want to paint. This has been the heaviest project in my vulnerability that came in the midst of creation.”

The track finds JID touching on his football scholarship days, his early work with Dreamville, touring with Ab-Soul, and much more. The track event reveals that he almost signed with Quality Control before J. Cole finalized the Dreamville deal.

Check out the new track, produced by Latrell James, Groove, and Christo, in the stream below. Look for JID‘s album, The Forever Story, to arrive later this week. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for all the best new music coming very soon.
