She’s back! The one and only, Jorja Smith, returns to the interwebs once again, and again she does so with some new music. As fans patiently await a proper follow-up to her debut album, Jorja has been busy with covers, theme songs, and more. Today she is back, and she returns with another exceptional display of her talents behind the mic. Today Jorja drops off a contagiously smooth new number entitled “By Any Means.”
The track is the first single from Roc Nation’s forthcoming compilation project, Reprise. The project is slated to feature various artists from the roster, compiled in hopes to bring awareness to social justice issues. A portion of the project’s proceeds will go to funding organizations that support victims of police brutality, hate crimes, and other violations of civil rights.
As far as the track, Jorja does her thing and gives us another reason to be a fan; in case you needed another. The track is driven by some smooth, addictive melodies and these crisp drum sections that provide the songstress with an incredible home to excel. She takes to the track and puts together another glowing example of her talents.
She also spoke about the inspiration behind the single. Ms. Smith stated: “The inspiration behind ‘By Any Means’ really came from going to the Black Lives Matter protest and leaving thinking, what can I do to keep this conversation going?” She went on to add, “It’s not just a post on social media, it’s life.”
