Keep Going | Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GKMC’ Becomes The Longest Charting Rap Album of All Time

Almost seven years after it’s release, Kendrick Lamar‘s ‘GKMC’ is still making noise. The project was the wordsmith’s official major-label debut and since its release its been a staple on the Billboard charts. Today the word comes down that Kendrick Lamar‘s ‘GKMC’ is now the longest-charting rap album of all-time. Since its release seven years ago, the project has been apart of the Billboard 200 charts. The album came in at No.141 on the Billboard 200 this week.

While that number of the charts might not garner any attention, it does mark the 358th straight week on the charts. That sets the bar as the longest-charting hip-hop album of all time, surpassing Eminem’s The Eminem Show. The album changed hip-hop, ushering in a new era, a new sound and a new level of lyricism. The album was even dubbed a “masterpiece” by Eminem, who went on to work with the wordsmith on a few things. This is certainly big news, and today we celebrate by listening to that classic project.

Press play on Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d city below and congratulate the wordsmith by streaming the project once again. Keep it locked with us here at The Culture Curators for more new music and music news coming soon.
