It’s been nearly two years since LION BABE released their Cosmic Wind album. They have been busy ever since, dropping offer cover tracks of all sorts while supplying some refreshing new takes. Today the duo is back, and they are back at it yet again. LION BABE returns to the interwebs with another cover track, unleashing their rendition of “Native New Yorker.”
The track was originally performed by the soul dance band Odyssey, which became a hit back in 1977. LION BABE’s version is different while keeping the essence of the track alive and well. Driven by these highly contagious melodies and some slick drum work, the backdrop supplies a stunning home for the lead singer to do her thing. She floats upon the track and serves up a dose of her soulful and undeniable vocal talents. The track is also featured in Michael Kors’ new “Hello Gorgeous” campaign.
If you still haven’t gotten familiar with the talents of LION BABE, you are missing out. No word on if the duo is working on a new project or what other cover songs they have up their sleeve, but we’ll keep you in the loop.
