Living The Life | The Comporta Cabanas By Studio 3a

Situated on the coast of Portugal is a relaxing retreat dubbed the Comporta Cabanas. These unique structures were inspired by local fishing huts, offering a relaxing escape on the coast. The residence is comprised of four small cabins situated in a forest of pine. Each cabin is clad in Douglas fir, which has been charred for protection. The dark finish enhances the ability of the structure to blend in with the surrounding trees. Each volume was placed to take advantage of incoming sunlight and wind flow.

The oversized eaves and mesh screens help shield from the intense sun rays and the mosquitoes. Inside we find sleek white finishes and concrete floors that offer a minimalist atmosphere. Glazed panels slide open to connect the interior and exterior of the home, embracing the landscape in the process. The cement floors also assist in regulating heat, adding to the home’s sustainable aesthetic, which also includes photo-voltaic panels and heat pumps. The four volumes are connected by a timber walkway and offer an outdoor swimming pool to really embrace the natural setting.

Take a closer look at the Comporta Cabanas in the images below and learn more about the structure from Studio 3A immediately. Be sure to check back with us for more exceptional, unique, and modern architecture coming soon.
