Luxury & Modern Design | The Ravine House

Modern design and architecture can be seen everywhere. We’ve seen plenty of examples to prove this point. However, today, we take a look at a home situated in a forested ravine outside of Chicago. The aptly titled, Ravine House is a single-story dwelling that pays homage to its surroundings. The rectangular structure is sliced at an angle. This unique design separates the main house and the garage. Between those two volumes in a courtyard lined by screens of Black Locust and local stone.

All of the invasive species of plants, grass, and the like have been removed and planted with no-mow meadows and elevated beds. Much of the home is clad in black metal, which adds to its contemporary aesthetic. The interior is lined with the warm tones, thanks to the oak flooring and walnut casework. The stunning landscape is on full display through floor-to-ceiling glazing. This provides views of the neighboring trees while the painting and spinning studio overlooks the courtyard birches.

Take a look at the Ravine House in the images below and find out more about the home from WK Architecture. While you’re at it, be sure to keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture coming soon.
