Make Your Own Vinyl | Yuri Suzuki’s Easy Record Maker

Mixtapes have been a thing since we could record music on tapes. The age of vinyl has returned and been revived by a generation of music fans and audiophiles. We’ve evolved from tapes to burning CD’s with our favorite tracks, and now we get to create mixtapes on vinyl. Yuri Suzuki’s Easy Record Maker makes it all possible. The device allows you cut your own records and enjoy your favorite tracks on vinyl.

The London-based designer has created a proprietary design that utilizes the vibrations caused by soundwaves. The design controls a cutting arm that will engrave blank plastics up to four times within a single millimeter.

All you need to make the magic happen is a five-to-seven-inch record, a smartphone or DMP, and an auxiliary cable. After plugging the device into the Easy Record Maker you are able to play your favorite tracks which are etched into the blank. The etching process takes less than four minutes.

The device is currently available via Gakken in Japan. U.S. and the U.K. release are set to arrive in the coming months. Take a closer look at the Easy Record Maker in the images below and find out more about the design from Yuri Suzuki. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the tech sector coming very soon.
