Brands and manufacturers around the world are switching gears. Today the word comes down that New Balance has announced they will be getting “all hands on deck” to make face masks. The news comes amid the global coronavirus epidemic, one that has seen a number of folks changing their focus. The American footwear giant is now working with government officials and local medical institutions to meet the rising demand for face masks.
The company released a statement on its website that notes a few significant changes. The statement indicates the label will use its “expertise and resources to solve new and extraordinary challenges” posed by COVID-19. The label says that prototypes are being made in the brand’s manufacturing facility in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Once the prototypes are confirmed, the brand hopes to begin scaling production with its other New England-based factories.
