In the process, the film has surpassed Frozen‘s $1.277 billion USD to become the highest-earning animated film of all time.

For the naysayers who say the film is not animated, it currently sits at No. 12 spot on the all-time list of movies. The Lion King reboot has brought in $473.1 million USD domestically. Putting it as the third-best animated film behind Incredibles 2 and its $608.5 million USD, and Finding Dory with $486.2 million USD. The film is quite popular in the states, but it’s a huge success globally.

The Lion King enters its fourth week in theaters, and it’s likely to break into the top 10 of all-time highest earning movies. This news comes after reports that Disney had earned a recording-breaking $7.67 billion USD in global box office revenue for the year. 2019 has been great for the company!
