Nappy Roots – ’40RTY’

It’s been far too long since we got a new project from Nappy Roots. Today the Kentucky collective returns, dropping off a brand new project which is their first in three years. The crew gets back in action with a contagious new entitled ’40RTY.’ The project follows 2017’s Another 40 Akerz, and the fellas put together a solid listening experience in the process.

The new album is loaded with twelve new tracks, including “Blind Faith,” “Back Roads,” and “Do Better.” The group shows off their lyrical prowess and depth, something they’ve done throughout all their projects. They also provide a showcase of their growth while keeping things fun and infectious.

Along the way, Nappy Roots are joined by the likes Lando Ameen, Raven Richards, Andrew Weaver, Backwud Marc, Gold Griffith, Gareth Asher, and Rizzi Myers. Some of our favorite standouts include “Footie Socks & Ice Cream,” “I Suppose,” “Do Better,” and “Toast.”

These guys never let us down, and they certainly don’t start with this one. Check out the latest album from Nappy Roots in the stream below and look for much more new music coming very soon. While you’re at it, be sure to check out the latest installment of our weekly playlist, A Curation of Sound Pt. 32.
