New Look, New Speed! The 2022 Volkswagen Golf R

The creative minds over at Volkswagen are back in the news, returning with a look into the future. Volkswagen has revealed its latest vehicle, showcasing the all-new 2022 Volkswagen Golf R. The vehicle is one of two variants Volkswagen will release in 2021 in the U.S. The small but impressive machine boasts 315 BHP and 310 pound-feet of torque vectoring — a max torque output that can be reached within a range of 2,100 to 5,350 rpm.

Power comes from a two-liter four-cylinder engine, which boasts 27 BHP more than the previous model. The ride comes equipped with a manual six-speed stick, though it is offered with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The Golf R’s all-wheel drive is powered by a torque vectoring system called 4Motion. The system shifts power between the rear and front wheels for sharper turns.

All of this power equates to a 0-60mph time of just 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. The four-door Golf has been lowered by about an inch and features a bevy of suspension modifications. The vehicle even features seven driving profiles such as Comfort, Sport, Race, Special, Drift, and Individual. More enhancements can be seen on the body kit, including a roof-mounted spoiler, a rear diffuser, 19-inch wheels, and chrome-plated exhaust tips.
