Next Level | 11-Year-Old Gui Khury Lands First-Ever Vert Ramp 1080

Limits are set to be pushed, and records are made to be broken. Back in 1999 at the X Games, Tony Hawk shocked the world by landing the world’s first vert ramp 900 at 31 years old. Today the word comes down that the world’s first vert ramp 1080 has just been documented. Brazilian skateboarding prodigy Gui Khury, who is just 11 years old, completed the feat, topping Tony Hawk’s record.

For skate fans, many will recall the 1080 that Tom Schaar landed in 2012 when he was just 12 years old. That feat was amazing, though performed on a much larger mega ramp structure. The world’s first vert ramp 1080 can be seen in the video below, and it’s certainly something worth checking out. The incredible stunt not only shows off the young skater’s talents, but a never quit attitude as well. He pulls off the trick flawlessly and takes in the moment, relishing in being the first to do it!

Have a look at the prodigy known as Gui Khury in the clip below. We’ll surely be seeing much more from this young man coming very soon. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the intersection of sports and lifestyle.
