Old Becomes New | A Look Inside Ca’dal Mantova

We’ve seen unique forms of modern architecture from all across the globe. Today we take a look at a beautiful design that brings new life to some ancient ruins in Switzerland. Ca’dal Mantova is situated on a rural plot, transforming several ruins into a beautiful 21st-century design. The residence is comprised of an old building dating back to the 1400s and a 1900s stable. Opting not to demolish the stone structures, Architect Andrea Frapolli salvaged them as the base for the single-family home.

The original volumes were restored and keep their exposed stone facade. The structures are reinforced with concrete, while also creating a new extension. This adds to the proportions and dimensions of the existing stable. The interior is host to a modern aesthetic with cement walls, floors, and ceilings. The living spaces are eye-catching and clean, contemporary, and spacious.

Take a look at this beautiful dwelling in the images below and find out more about the residence from Andrea Frapolli Architectetto. While you’re at it, be sure to keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more modern architecture, renovations, and restorations coming soon.
