Old Becomes New! The Ca’n Terra House

In case you didn’t know, we have a soft spot for unique, eye-catching, and interesting design. We especially love unique architecture, and today we get a prime example of precisely that. Today we get a look at the Ca’n Terra House. This extraordinary dwelling is found in an abandoned sandstone quarry, transformed into a unique home by Ensamble Studio.

The structure is located on the Spanish island of Menorca. The home was created by first scanning the cave with laser technology. From there, the stone was cleaned, and living spaces were placed throughout the rock formations. The area was abandoned over a century ago, and the space is massive.

The Ca’n Terra House features translucent panels that help divide the rooms, keeping the site’s integrity intact. There are also skylights cut into the ceilings, which allows the area to be bathed in natural light. Solar panels, a septic tank, and a water cistern allow the home to operate off-grid, adding to its charm and allure in the process. The  Ca’n Terra House is like nothing you’ve seen before; we promise.

Take a closer look at this stunning modern structure in the images below and head over to Ensamble Studio to find out more right now. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more amazing architecture and design coming soon.
