Old Meets New | ICON Mercury EV Set For Display At Geneva Motor Show

The creative minds at ICON 4×4 are back. They return and are proud to announce that the innovative 1949 Mercury Coupe Derelict EV will be on display at the 90th annual Geneva International Motor Show. This incredible machine brings together the old and the new for a unique and functional design. The 1949 ‘Merc’ features a dual-electric motor, a transmission-less design that provides 470 lb-ft of freight-train torque. This is equal to around 400 horsepower with no shifts all the way up to the vehicle’s 120 MPH top speed.

The ride is powered by a full Tesla Performance 85kWh battery array, which is strategically fit throughout the vehicle. This provides a range of around 150- to 200-miles. If that wasn’t impressive enough, it features a full recharge time of around 1.5 hours. The 1949 Merc is a pioneering project that is part of ICON’s “Derelict” series. The series focuses on maintaining the “old” exterior look of vehicles while incorporating ultra-modern electric powertrains.

Take a closer look at this impressive machine in the images below and head over to ICON to find out more immediately. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more new rides, classics and custom cars coming soon.
