The Museum of Graffiti in Miami recently opened the doors on a new solo exhibition from RAS TERMS. The acclaimed street artist and graffiti writer is known for versatility, blending his signature letter art with abstraction and figuration. The exhibition, entitled “Ancient Futurism,” features a body of work that includes paintings, sculptures, and installations.
James Monk started painting murals around his hometown of Miami, inspired by ancient traditions to create his intricate compositions. The museum released a statement regarding the exhibition and the artist. It reads: “During his early work, he served as a conduit to the creative powers, fusing his letter styles with art and fun, reminding people through visuals to maintain the codes of peace, unity, love, and to have fun. Now older, his work has taken a break from heavily influenced spirituality and has matured on to more contemporary, abstract styles.”
Along with the exhibition’s opening on May 28th is an NFT launch by the artist. Visitors will be able to scan a QR code and purchase the digital artwork. RAS TERMS spoke about the NFT. He stated: “Artwork based on ancient traditions that is digitized and minted to be sold on the blockchain is the next step in my personal journey of creating artwork that embodies Ancient Futurism.”
Check out a few select works from the showcase and head to the Museum of Graffiti’s website for more information. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art exhibitions and art news coming soon.
