On Display! Fotografiska New York To Exhibit Andy Warhol’s Photography

A showcase like none other.

Fotografiska New York is gearing up to reveal a significant exhibition exploring Andy Warhol. Instead of focusing on the artist’s pop-art pieces, the display will feature the artist’s seldom-seen photographs. “Andy Warhol: Photo Factory” will boast a collection of 120 pictures and four 16mm films that aim to provide a look at all six facets of the artist’s work across film. Included are intimate Polaroid shots of celebrities, such as Dolly Parton, Keith Haring, Jane Fonda, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and more.

The showcase brings Warhol’s visual diary home, providing a look at his polaroid collages, stitched photographs, and more. His famous collages were seen in publications like Vogue Paris and Mondo Uomo, while his four films involved New York’s cultural elite. James R. Hedges, IV, an avid collector of Warhol’s photographic work, stated: “This exhibition provides a scintillating introspective, especially as I consider these lesser-known stitched photos as an extension of Warhol’s raw self, one that the public has scarcely seen.”

Other images on display feature a photo of Parton and Haring and photos of Robert Mapplethorpe, Gianni Versace, Steven Spielberg, Liberace, Giorgio Armani, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Jack Nicholson, and more. The exhibition is curated by Hedges, along with Jack Shainman Gallery, Grace Noh of Fotografiska New York, in collaboration with Jessica Jarl of Fotografiska.

Head over to Fotografiska to find out more and look for exhibitions to be on display from September 10 to January 30. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more art exhibitions, news, and drops coming soon.
