On Display! Pace Gallery & JR Reveal Exhibitions In NYC & London

The French artist known to the world simply as JR is back. The artist is the subject of two exhibitions at the London Pace Gallery and in New York. The exhibitions, dubbed “Eye to the World” and “Tehachapi,” respectively, are both unique in subject matter and curation. Both feature some of the artist’s iconic photographic works, showcasing his exploration of humanity, socio-political issues, and more.

“Eye to the World” features the artist’s black and white portraits of individuals from his travels. The press release reads: “Each portrait holds a multitude of stories as JR expertly balances the macroscopic with the microscopic, the individual experience with the universal.” One of the works is JR’s ongoing global project, The Wrinkles of the City. The series features images of dilapidated structures and candid snapshots of locals.

The gallery also released a statement regarding the exhibitions. It reads: “JR’s practice is rooted in his deep commitment to collaborating with individuals and communities alike. His work is characterized by large-scale photographic interventions in urban environments that address cultural and political issues, often with an emphasis on social justice.”
