On-Screen In #OurOcala! May Films At The Marion Theatre

It might be hard to imagine, but May is nearly upon us. With a new month on the horizon, the good folks over at Ocala’s Marion Theatre are back with a look at what is in store for the month of May. May is a great month for movies at the Marion Theatre, and with $5 tickets for all films, how could you go wrong? May is sure to be a busy month at the box office, as the theater has a slew of exceptional movies set to arrive.

First things first, the Marion Theatre invites you to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th, 2021, with a special showing of  Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) and pre-show fun at the Marion Theatre. The Marion bar will feature Star Wars-themed cocktails that you can enjoy in the lobby while listening to sounds of the Cantina Band in addition to other music from Star Wars films.

Star Wars trivia will also occur in the auditorium before the show, and guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars character. Prizes will be given out throughout the night for outstanding costumes and trivia. The pre-show event begins at 5:00PM, and the film starts at 6:30PM.

Also, all month-long guests can stop in to see the Academy-Award Winning 1951 film, An American In Paris. The movie serves as the latest installment in the Classics and Cocktail series, allowing guests to experience classic films the way they are meant to be enjoyed.

The Duke Energy Reels and Reading Series continues in May with Pride and Prejudice. Guests can enjoy a movie for a great cause on Thursday, May 20th at 5:30. Tickets are free and include a small popcorn, thanks to Duke Energy. Guests are also encouraged to bring an in-kind donation of school supplies or a cash gift to support Marion County Literacy Council.

The rest of the month includes classic films like Matilda, Sixteen Candles, Coco, Monty Python, and the Holy Grail, and others. Take a look at May’s calendar of films below and save the date.
