Five must-see movies!

Joker October 4th

Probably one of the most anticipated films of the year, let alone Fall. The Todd Phillips directed film acts as an origin story for the Joker. Set in 1981, the film follows Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian who turns to a life of crime and chaos. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker, while the film is intended to launch DC Black, a series of DC-based standalone films. The movie is slated to hit theaters on October 4, 2019, and we’ll certainly be in line to see it.

Gemini Man October 4th

This upcoming film is an American science fiction action thriller helmed by Ang Lee. The film finds Will Smith starring as Henry Brogen, an again assassin looking to end his career. However, he has one last mission, going head to head against a younger clone of himself named Junior. Henry aims to uncover the truth behind Junior’s creation while trying to keep him from going down the same dark path he did. The film has been in the works for a while, initially conceived in 1997. The film went through development trials and tribulations for nearly 20 years before finally being pulled together. Gemini Man is set to invade box offices on October 11, 2019.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie October 11th

Who isn’t hyped about the return of ‘Breaking Bad’? Soon El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will arrive on Netflix, continuing the story that initially started as the hit AMC show. There hasn’t been a lot said about the film in terms of the plot. However, we do know that it’s set after the Breaking Bad finale “Felina.” The film chronicles Jesse PInkman’s pursuit of freedom after escaping his captors. The film was written and directed by Vince Gilligan and is set to be released on Netflix on October 11, 2019; and broadcast on AMC at a later date.

Ford v Ferrari November 15th

This is one film we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. Ford v. Ferrari was directed by James Mangold and tells the story of the eccentric, determined team of American engineers and designers, led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby. The film stars Matt Damon as Shelby while Christian Bale portrays British driver, Ken Miles. The film tells the story of Ford’s legendary race, providing an inside look at how Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca changed racing forever. The star-studded cast just adds further appeal, though the story alone is compelling enough. Ford v. Ferrari is set to invade the theater on November 15, 2019; don’t miss out.

Queen & Slim November 27th

This is certainly one to see. Queen & Slim is an American drama thriller film directed by Melina Matsoukas. Jodie Turner-Smith plays Queen while Daniel Kaluuya plays the role of Slim. The duo heads out on a first date after flirting with one another for some time. However, things take an unexpected turn when they are pulled over. The film looks to be an in-depth look into life on the streets in 2019, and certainly a frightening one. Look for Queen & Slim to hit theaters on November 27th.
