Own This Icon! Carroll Shelby’s 1965 427 Cobra Roadster

In case you couldn’t tell, here at The Culture Curators, we have a love for classic cars. Today we get a look at something iconic, a special machine that holds a special place in the history of automobiles. Today we get a look at  Carroll Shelby’s 1965 427 Cobra Roadster. This isn’t your average 427 Cobra. This particular ride, chassis number CSX3178, was built for the Texan himself.

The roadster remained in his ownership from March 1966 to his passing in 2012. The ride is one of just five 427 Cobras painted charcoal grey, though Shelby had the car repainted blue in 1972 and red in 2002. The engine was upgraded to the race-spec side-oiler, aluminum-head 427. However, when the current owner bought the car in 2012, it was restored to its original specification by specialists Legendary Motorcar Company.

Take a closer look at this gem of an automobile in the images below and head over to Mecum to find out more. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more classic cars, new rides, and custom vehicles coming very soon.
