Nearly twenty years after dropping the first installment of his PeteStrumentals series, Pete Rock is bringing it back. The legendary producer, musician, and more is back with something new for our listening enjoyment, gearing up to release the third volume of PeteStrumentals. Today the artist is back with a new single entitled “Say It Again.” This time around, he’s doing something different, assembling a band, and adding a new element to his soulful instrumentals.
Pete released a statement regarding his upcoming album, stating: “I wanted to keep the same feeling that people got with the first PeteStrumentals, even if I’m not sampling.” His band dubbed The Soul Brothers, features drummer Daru Jones, guitarist Marcus Machado, bassists MonoNeon and Christopher McBride, keyboardist BigYuki, and vocalist Jermaine Holmes. Pete Rock went on to add, “I want the best; I’m like James Brown and Kool & The Gang; I want precision.”
