Power In Photos! A Look Inside Chris Cook’s “AM I NEXT?” Photo Exhibition

28-year-old Brooklyn-based photographer Chris Cook was among those who documented protests after the murder of George Floyd. He took to the streets of New York and Washington D.C., documenting the protests while creating an archive of images in the process. Throughout the protests, Mr. Cook compiled 180 photographs, and recently he put fifteen of them on display at the Welancora Gallery in Brooklyn.

The images are part of his solo photographic exhibition; “AM I NEXT?” The exhibition is just a tenth of the series, diving deep into political and emotional energies. Cook stated: “I felt it was my duty to document the BLM movement.” He went on to explain, “it represents the Black historic moment within my timeline, which connects me to my ancestors.” The exhibition is full of gripping and compelling imagery.
