Powering The Future | Tesla Reveals An Affordable V3 Solar Roof

The good folks over at Tesla continue to push technology and modern energy sources forward. Elon Musk recently revealed the third iteration of Tesla’s Solar Roof, V3 Solar Roof. The design is an all-in-one roof and solar panel that comes in the form of tiles designed specifically for residential use. The first two versions have a questionable reception though offering a look into the future. Musk stated: “Versions one and two, we were still figuring things out.”

He added, “version three is finally ready for the big time.” Musk also alluded to a more affordable approach. Tesla’s website has a price estimator, which puts the price point for an average 2,000 square-foot house at $42,500 USD or $33,950 USD after a federal tax incentive. Despite a lower price point, Musk noted that installation for the newest Solar Roof is “very non-trivial.” The company is slated to be running “installations” in the beginning to make sure everything runs according to plan. The company aims to produce and install up to 1,000 roofs per week over the next several months. Tesla will have its own team of specialized staff installing the Solar Roofs during the initial period. Musk claims that with correctly-trained personnel, installation could be ever faster than traditional roofs. Tesla is now taking orders for the V3 Solar Roof.
