The good folks over at Under Armour are back at it again! Today the footwear and apparel giant is back with a brand new Pride 2020 collection. This time around the imprint drops off a range centered around a tie-dye print, offering a bold, colorful, and eye-catching appeal. The design has a specific meaning, celebrating the original Pride flag, which was hand-dyed in San Francisco by iconic activist/artist Gilbert Baker and a group of volunteers.
The new Pride 2020 collection includes 17 pieces in total. The lineup consists of hoodies and t-shirts, as well as a bevy of colorful accessories as well. We see backpacks, headbands, and socks, while the focus is a vibrant HOVR Phantom 1 Slip. The sneaker features a flexible laceless construction that boasts each color of Baker’s flag. The blue heel counter serves a special meaning and serves as a nod to 2020’s EuroPride parade in Greece. There is also multi-color branding on the heel, and tongue tabs finished off with a bold outsole.
Perry Williams, UA Senior Manager of Commercial Optimization and a former co-chair of the group, spoke about the new design. He stated: “The allyship that the design team has built with Unified is extremely important.” Williams went on to say, “Having the opportunity to be a part of the many rounds of design review and feedback gave us ownership of the collection and, at the end of the day, a shoe we are really proud of. I’m looking forward to continuing this partnership with the design team for future Pride collections.”
Under Armour also announced the new UA PRIDE grant program. The program aims to help LGBTQ+ organizations deal with financial hardships from COVID-19.
