Pristine x Powerful | The Audi RS 6 Avant

Some of the best “sleepers” on the street are also some of the most low key luxury rides on the road. They share the same logo as the car driven by Iron Man himself. Audi auto group has slowly developed a reputation in America it has long been known for in Europe. The European auto manufacturer now aims its sights on bringing Americans a not so subtle example of all they have been offering the European market for some time now.

25 years after the release of the first R6, the 2020 Audi R6 Avant is coming to America. With a 591 hp twin-turbo 4.0 hybrid V-8, it will be hauling ass when it gets here too. The mild use of the 48-volt hybrid system will be used for restarting and energy storage. 590 ft-lbs of torque will be all the boost you’ll need out of the R6 Avant.

In a bold move from Audi HQ, they chose a wagon to deliver the thrills to the new market. Some insiders are saying it’s a direct call-out of another European luxury sport wagon. This is no regular 5 seater wagon though. To make sure its set apart from its grocery-getting counterpart, the A6, the design team has done almost everything as different as possible while still using metal and glass. Aside from the front doors, roof, and tailgate, this is a whole different war wagon. A revised hood design shows off an increased power bulge. The body has been flared 1.6 inches on each side.

Audi Does It Again!

The flatter and wider A7 headlight unit boasts a gloss black grille that’s wide like the R8, opening up the front for a more aggressive front end. The headlights also feature the RS-specific sequencing, but the Matrix Laser technology won’t be available to North American markets.  0-60 in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 189.5 mph are attainable If you order the dynamic package plus. 22” inch wheels and huge 440mm ten piston carbon-ceramic brakes make this a 154mph missile with a hatchback full of cool points.

Word around Nardo is an engineering nerd, and a microchip may have “allegedly” seen 197mph. Giant oval exhaust pipes come from a supercar inspired air intake after ripping through two turbos. All-wheel drive with torque vectoring and progressive steering comes standard. Rear steering is an option with the Dynamic Package and Dynamic Package Plus. A five-degree opposite steering angle front he front wheels takes 3.3 ft off the turning radius. Adaptive air suspension is considered standard while RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control can be opted for. The ten piston calipers come in grey, red, or blue powder coat options.

Trailer hitch setups are even available in case you need to flex at the boat ramp too. Audi’s American power wagon premier is expected to happen in the third quarter of 2020 when units will hit U.S. dealerships. or more info as it becomes available and a closer look at the 2020 Audi RS 6 Avant, keep an eye on audi.com.
