Rapsody – ‘EVE’

We’ve been patiently awaiting a new project from Rapsody for quite some time. Today, the wait is over! She is back with her brand new opus, ‘EVE,’ which serves a follow up to last year’s ‘Laila’s Wisdom.’ Fresh off a Grammy nomination for her previous opus, Rapsody keeps things moving with her third album. The opus is a “dedication to the beautiful spectrum of black women that have shaped our lives.”

Entitled ‘EVE,’ the new LP was named after the Bible’s original woman. The project is a celebration and empowerment of women of color worldwide. Each song is named after a legendary black female, both past and present. We find tracks that serve as an homage to the longest-reigning female Egyptian Pharaoh Hatshepsut, freedom fighter Sojourner Truth; music legends Nina Simone and Aaliyah, and more.

The project is loaded up with sixteen new tracks, while Rapsody effortlessly shows off her talents. Along the way, she is joined by J. Cole, Queen Latifah, Mereba, SiR, J.I.D, GZA & D’Angelo, Leikeli47, Elle Varner, and PJ Morton. While production comes from 9th Wonder, Nottz, Khrysis, Eric G, and Mark Byrd.

This isn’t one we’d suggest sleeping on. Check out the new opus, ‘EVE’ in the stream below and keep it locked for much more new music coming soon. Look for our favorites from ‘EVE’ on this week’s installment of ‘A Curation of Sound.’
