Rides Reviewed | The 2020 Lexus RX350L

Lexus has built a reputation for offering luxurious vehicles that boast dependability and exceptional quality. Those trends continue in the 2020 Lexus RX 350L. This outstanding vehicle is an extended version of the popular RX 350, primarily with a third-row seat. Built with luxury in mind, the RX 350L is perfect for the active family that offers a bit more extra space and all the quality we’ve come to expect from Lexus. We recently had the chance to spend some time behind the wheel of this exceptional vehicle, and we were impressed across the board.

First, let’s look inside. Lexus offers a tech and safety-focused design in the RX 350L. The ride comes standard with a power liftgate, dual-zone automatic climate control; simulated leather upholstery; an eight-inch touchscreen; and adaptive cruise control. The Navigation package adds a larger 12.3-inch display and a 15-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.

Other extras include a heads up display, heated and ventilated front seats; heated steering wheel; power moonroof; blind-spot monitoring; and second-row captain’s chairs. The driver-focused cockpit is draped in leather trim and quality materials. The 12.3-inch screen in the middle of the dash is a nice touch, giving access to more features and information in the process. Lexus has even opted away from its mouse-style joystick controller, upgrading to a new touchpad for 2020.

Also included with the RX 350L is Lexus Enform Safety Connect, complimentary for three years, and Enform Service Connect, complimentary for ten years. The interior is spacious and comfortable, well connected, and boasts outstanding attention to detail.

Now let’s take a look under the hood. A 3.5-liter V6 powers the 2020 Lexus RX 350L. This powerful and apt engine produces 290 horsepower and 263 lb-ft. of torque. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic with steering wheel paddle shifters, offering an added level of control in the process.

The RX 350L also has an option of a full-time, Active Torque Control all-wheel-drive system. All of this comes together for an EPA estimated fuel range of 18/25 city/highway and 21 combined with all-wheel drive. The front-wheel-drive model improves to 19/26 city/highway and 22 combined.

The 2020 Lexus RX350L is outstanding. It’s a quality vehicle designed with the family in mind. The smooth and quiet ride is flawless, thanks to re-tuned shocks and dampers that feature a new friction control device to reduce vibrations. Lexus has again stepped in a big way. They have once again seamlessly blended luxury and functionality, creating a stunning addition to their fleet in the process.
