There is something incredibly inspiring about modern architecture. Today we take a look at a beautiful home that is located on the banks of the Atibaia River in São Paulo. Casa Atibaia was inspired by the work of Lina Bo Bardi’s Casa de Vidro. The home was designed and brought to life by Charlotte Taylor and Nicholas Préaud. The dwelling was imagined as a dreamy retreat that is enveloped by jungle views. The structure is a stunning example of Brazilian modernism.
The geometric form is created by white concrete planes, which is held up by glass walls. This provides a unique connection with the natural world outside. The glazed walls erase the boundaries between the interior and jungle setting. The result is something welcoming, unique, open, and airy. The surrounding vegetation softens the brutalist design, doing so as a stunning contrast of old and new. To further incorporate the landscape, the home uses natural elements from the plot.
Existing rocks are used as accent walls and furnishings, seamlessly coexisting with the contemporary and antique furniture throughout. The home is a unique balance of old and new, seamlessly bringing the two together inside and out.
