A few weeks back, we shared news regarding B4BC’S 12th Annual Skate the Coast event. This past weekend the event took place, with over 160 people getting in on the action. Boarding for Breast Cancer’s (B4BC), 12th Annual Skate the Coast event raised over $52K for its breast cancer education, prevention, and survivorship programs. The event encourages attendees to skate, bike, or roll 19 miles along the Southern California Coast. Things started in Santa Monica and ended with a festival at Dive N’ Surf in Redondo Beach, California.
The weekend was kicked off on Friday night, as the event kicked off with a party at Arbor, Venice. Participants and friends enjoyed killer tunes by Dane Druess and enjoyed tasty Traeger BBQ complemented with delicious organic juices provided by Suja. Saturday morning, participants gathered at the starting line at the Santa Monica Pier. This year many new faces joined B4BC’s seasoned veterans, including Shannon Dunn Downing, Carabeth Burnside, and Jen O’Brian. The participants ranged in age from 6 months to 72 years old, all cruising down the coast while stopping off at 3 hydration stops along the way at Marina Del Rey, Dockweiller Beach, and Hermosa Beach.

Participants rested and refueled with Suja Juices, Clif bars, and snacks from Thrive market. Folks crossed the finish line at Dive n Surf around 1:30 PM and celebrated the journey with a block party. Along the way, friends and family were treated to lunch from Traeger Grills, Beyond Meat, and Thrive Market. Also listening to music from Truth Cartel and The Sendaways.
The event was perfectly timed as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. There is still time to donate to the Skate the Coast fund, as fundraising will be open until October 31.
