The good folks over at Lexus are back at it yet again. After showcasing the ultimate gaming vehicle, the automaker is back with another unique rendition of the IS. Today we get a look at the 2021 Lexus IS Wax Edition Sedan. The vehicle is based on the Lexus IS sports sedan and was created in partnership with Pitchfork, DJ and producer MC Madlib, and artist and producer Kaytranada.
Unlike any IS model that we’ve seen, the IS Wax features a fully functional turntable in the dash. The turntable itself was created with a 3D printer modified with carbon fiber, machined aluminum, and a motor that stabilizes the platter. The turntable is capable of playing full-size 12-inch records, and we hope it’s connected to a Mark Levinson sound system. This design offers an old-school aesthetic with modern sensibilities, creating a unique showcase of craftsmanship.
