Speed & Style! 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR Strassenversion

Back in 1998, Mercedes-Benz made their comeback to Le Mans after a seven-year hiatus. The car they took to the track was the CLK GTR. The mid-engined prototype was the inspiration for 25 road-going replicas that were created. Ilmor Engineering enhanced the V12, increasing the displacement to 6.9 liters with an output of 604 horsepower.

Mercedes-Benz kept the racing aesthetics on the inside with racing buckets covered in leather, optional air conditioning, and two storage bins beneath the folding doors. This particular  1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR Strassenversion is number 12 of 25. The vehicle was initially sold in Germany before making its way to Hong Kong and then Seattle. The car has only 896 miles, and it has been meticulously maintained. The vehicle is set to hit the auction blow at the 2021 Gooding & Co. auction this August in Pebble Beach, boasting an entire history of documentation since new.

Take a closer look at this beautiful, rare ride in the images, and be sure to place your bid. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more from the automotive world coming very soon.
