The creative minds over at Gucci are back at it once again. Today the imprint is back, revealing their latest men’s tailoring campaign, “Life of a Rock Star.” Along the way, the Italian label has linked up with A$AP Rocky, Tyler, the Creator, Iggy Pop, and Biggy Pop the parrot. The campaign was shot in Los Angeles back in February. The trio can be seen inside a Mid-Century Modern West Coast house surrounded by lush plants and palm trees. Iggy Pop’s parrot and its friend, a blue hyacinth macaw, make themselves at home while the fellas are adorned in Gucci’s latest looks.
The two rappers showcase their style in an old Rolls-Royce and enter the home. They then join Iggy Pop for a dance before the three are seen living their best lives in some of the best styles of the year. We see Iggy in a leopard print belted suit, as well as green and blue three-pieces, and a tweed check suit. Tyler is seen in Gucci’s red corduroy suit with a blue ribbed roll neck and loafers. A$AP Rocky is seen in a full striped “GG” motif suit, as well as a black “GG” tuxedo.
Alessandro Michele spoke about the campaign. He stated: “The result is a group campaign with three men who I believe had fun too. There is always this image of eccentricity because they are, in fact, eccentric themselves. A certain type of fun is also portrayed, and the idea of how one’s obsession with appearances can create a kind of common ground that can become a sort of brotherhood. It was beautiful to see these three men together, seemingly different but very similar.” Michele then added: “This is another chapter of this journey. With these campaigns, I am working on different ways of being elegant, and these three men embody this idea perfectly. I like to tell the story of elegance in completely arbitrary and unexpected ways. Perhaps elegance is something in the air that sometimes you are not even ready for. Male elegance can be unpredictable and strange.”
