Stepping Up | Facebook Pledges $10 Million USD To “Racial Justice” Movements

The good folks over at Facebook are back in the news, taking a stand in the name of racial justice. In a recent public post, Mark Zuckerberg announced efforts to support social justice-oriented charities. Zuckerberg’s statement pledges Facebook’s goal to strengthen the black community “and all those working towards justice in honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and far too many others whose names will not be forgotten.”

The Facebook CEO added, “The organizations fighting for justice also need funding.” Mr. Zuckerberg went on to say, “Facebook is committing an additional $10 million to groups working on racial justice. We’re working with our civil rights advisors and our employees to identify organizations locally and nationally that could most effectively use this right now.”

The post also makes mention of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, founded by himself and his wife. He states the initiative has invested “~$40 million annually for several years in organizations working to overcome racial injustice.” This news comes after fellow tech CEO Jack Dorsey has pledged a personal $3 million USD donation to Colin Kaepernick‘s Know Your Rights Camp.

Head over to Facebook to read the entire statement and look for more on this coming very soon. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more lifestyle and culture news coming very soon.
