What’s better than a vacation? An experience. Today we get a look at exactly that as Wes Anderson has transformed a historic carriage for Belmond’s British Pullman into a real-life movie set. Using his signature style, the redesigned Cygnus car is adorned with the director’s eccentric touches, such as pastel pink ceilings and bespoke chairs draped in custom green fabric.
The train carriage transports guests into the director’s world, doing so with swan-shaped champagne coolers and silver leaf ceilings that reflect like water, serving as a nod to the car’s namesake, the Greek god of balance. The train car also features handcrafted marquetry that further adds to the carriage’s original art deco aesthetic. The trip will take guests through the English countryside while enjoying multi-course meals served on dishes selected by Anderson in either the open-car or a private coupe.
