Style x Awareness | Vans & CoppaFeel!’s Breast Cancer Awareness Collection

October is not only the “Falliest” month of them all, but it’s also Breast Cancer Awareness month. Professional sports teams start wearing pink. The ribbons are placed everywhere. Companies replace their corporate-approved colors with pink to show support for the cause. The crew over at Vans is no different, but they’ve taken a slightly different approach this year. Vans has teamed up with UK-based awareness organization CoppaFeel! for a collaboration capsule of footwear, clothing, and accessories set to encourage support, raise awareness, and some serious funds for the organization.

We’re talking at least $200,000 worth of proceeds to the CoppaFeel! Organization. The collection is graphic-heavy and is comprised of the Sk8-Hi, Slip-On, Era, a pair of slides, a Chore jacket, two T-shirts, a cap and a backpack. Kris Hallenga, founder of CoppaFeel!, said in a press release that this collaboration is “a dream come true” for the charity. She added “We are thrilled for the opportunity to spread our message across Vans’ audience, as this partnership will allow us to tell more people why checking their boobs is so important, and in return, save lives. CoppaFeel! exists to stamp out the late detection of breast cancer by educating everyone – girls, boys and non-binary pals about their boobs and encourage them to get anything abnormal checked out.”

Breast Cancer Awareness!

As for the offerings in the collection, Vans designers created artwork using “simple shapes and minimal linework to highlight the bold use of color and the unity of interlocking figures.” Even the iconic checkerboard pattern got a reenvisioning to highlight how breast cancer can affect anybody. The slides and SK8-Hi have been given an illustrative female body juxtaposition. An encouraging reminder that “You Got This” is the powerful message behind the standout pieces of the collection. It’s featured on slip-ons, headwear, and a backpack. The T-shirt, backpack and Chore jacket further highlight diversity and support breast cancer awareness through its minimalist illustrations.

The Vans and CoppaFeel Breast Cancer Awareness collection will launch October 1st on vans.com and in select retail locations worldwide.
