As the Art Basel vibe is reaching its peak, we’ve already seen some pretty incredible mash-ups and collaborations. This is one that maybe nobody saw coming, but it is sure to go unmissed now. The classic sportswear label Umbro has teamed up with NYC-based creative agency Coral Studios on the design of a capsule collection to debut at Miami’s Art Basel. Through a partnership with The Great Barrier Reef Foundation, the collection’s proceeds will partially benefit the environmental organization.
The collection features the iconic checkerboard soccer shorts in both coral navy blue colors. A Umbro reversible track jacket and soccer jerseys highlight Coral Studio’s bold coral reef camo print. While visually stunning, these offerings carry more impactful features that could otherwise go unseen. The jerseys and track jackets utilize a material made from recycled ocean fishing nets, furthering the sustainable efforts. The colors chosen for the collection also highlight the beauty and biodiversity coral reefs offer.
To properly introduce the collection to the world, Coral Studios has a Pop-Up shop planned for the Pegaso Soccer rooftop football field in Wynwood. A limited number of pieces will be available at during Art Basel and on Umbro’s website ahead of the official release in Spring 2020. RSVP info can be found at Coral Studios website.
