Take An Inside Look | The Birch Park House

Situated overlooking the coast of Auckland is a beautiful example of outstanding modern architecture. Today we get a look at the Birch Park House. This exceptional design was created by Matter Architects, who bring together Chilean and Japanese design cues for a unique blend. The dwelling serves as a seaside escape for a multi-generational family. The home consists of a series of connected pavilions that come clad in timber treated with the traditional Japanese method of Shou Sugi Ban.

Handmade Petersen bricks are seen throughout as well, adding a nice detail to the exterior. The interior of the home boasts a minimal and modern palette of concrete and wood. This contemporary approach includes green marble counters, smoked timber cabinetry, and floating paper lanterns. The upper level of the home features expansive views over the shoreline. Below, the ground floor living spaces flow effortlessly outdoors, expanding the footprint of the home in the process. This also provides easy access to the water and remarkable views.

Take a closer look inside the Birch Park House in the images below and find out more about the structure from Matter Architects immediately. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more outstanding architecture coming soon.
