Tech Specs | DJI’s New Ronin SC Gimbal

We’ve taken the video camera off of dad’s shoulder and put it in our hands. Content has gone from whatever the networks think we want and into the people’s uploads. Nearly everyone either has a Vlog or a favorite one they watch. The next evolution in content creating tends to require some advanced skill, knowledge, and equipment, though. Eventually, that road leads to stabilization as well. A gimbal is a for sure sign somebody is getting serious. And serious just got a little more accessible with the debut of DJI’s Ronin-SC gimbal.

Since DJI’s beginning in 2006, they’ve been a staple for filmmakers, from big-budget to documentaries, and the YouTubers. Offering video drones, stabilizers, and other accessories, DJI has become a leader in filmmaking tech for the millions of us who don’t work directly in the movie industry. Evolving with the demands of the customer base keeps the company relevant. With the recent release of the Ronin-SC, they’ve once again proven DJI shot-callers are listening to the people. When the Ronin-S was debuted in 2018, a new world of affordable first-class video stabilization came with it. Now, the Ronin-SC is here. The SC is much more compact. Weighing barely half what it’s older counterpart does but packing the same features into the smaller package makes this one of the most exciting video tech releases of the year. There’s a catch though. The Ronin-SC is a mirrorless-only platform. It features a slew of exciting features like Activetrack, which effortlessly follows your subject as you traverse alongside, Motionlapse, which can help you to create jaw-dropping, panoramic time lapses, and a stable focus motor/command unit for seamless movement, panning, and capture.

Perhaps the most impressive new trick though is Force Mobile — allowing users to control the gimbal’s movement, rotation, focus, and shake, from over 82 feet away. The DJI Ronin-SC is available now for $440 from DJI and select retailers.
