It’s been far too long since we last heard any music from Tenacious D. The comedy rock duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass are back, unleashing some new material in the process. Since first arriving on the scene, there has been a running joke that Jack Black and Jack White should link up for a collaboration. Well, the jokes turned to reality this Summer when the duo recorded at White’s Third Man Records. The duo originally released their single, “Don’t Blow It, Kage” as a 7” vinyl on Black Friday.
Now the track has made it to streaming services, offering something new, infectious, and unique, to say the least. The song finds the two-person group showing off their rock & roll sensibilities. Of course, these weave in their tongue-in-cheek lyricism, touching on how the two are recording at Third Man Records with hopes of impressing Jack White. Throughout the track, Black tells Gass to effectively not screw their chances up. This is certainly something worth checking out and adding to your listening rotation.
