The Beautiful Of Brutalism | The Villa Hexagon

Situated about a Norwegian river is an example of beautiful Brutalist design. Dubbed Villa Hexagon, Hoem + Folstad Arkitekter, created this structure. The design is situated in a forest. The home contrasts the natural surroundings with a six-sided concrete shell. The cement surface is left exposed on the interior, adding to its Brutalist charm. The six-sided concrete shell sits flawlessly in the forest, offering a unique fortress in the process.

Warm wood cladding and oak floors soften the exterior. There is a series of angular windows that keep with the geometric aesthetic. The glazing also frames the views of the surrounding scenery. This helps in filtering the natural light as well. The interior has a modern allure and charm, though doing so with a welcoming vibe. The spacious aesthetic is contemporary in design with influence from mid-century modern aspects. An outdoor terrace provides views across an old industrial area, the river, and the city of Kristiansand in the distance. The structure might stand out amongst its setting, but it somehow fits.
