The Fresh House

If you haven’t experienced the film Fresh, you are missing out. The film follows the character Nora, played by Daisy Edgar-Jones. Nora meets a man named Steve, played by Sebastian Stan, in a grocery store. Things take a left turn immediately as Steve holds Nora captive in his basement. The set of the film includes a mid-century design with two different sets.

The first has Steve’s main floor. The space is a retro-inspired space that includes concrete built-ins, herringbone flooring, rich wood details, and retro furniture. The second set features a floating concrete staircase, hand-carved walls, a surgical room, and dungeons made of sunken beds, stainless steel toilets, and sunset murals.

The set designer, Jen Morden, spoke about the design. She explained that “every design detail was specific to the feelings we wanted to convey about Steve, his ego, his thirst, and how to properly trick our audiences in their interpretation of him.”

Check out the ‘Fresh’ house in the images below and learn more about the design from Jennifer Morden. In the meantime, keep it locked with The Culture Curators for more outstanding architecture and unique design.
