The good folks over at adidas have partnered with Google to look into the future. Today we get a look at the Adidas x Google GMR Insole. This unique new concept was designed to bring achievements from the real world into the virtual. The soccer cleat insoles come as a pair of two boasting a single Google Jacquard tag to be placed in the insole of the dominant foot.
The device uses machine-learning algorithms to recognize physical on-pitch movements. This means the insole can track kicks, shot power, distance traveled, and speed. The data is then passed from the GMR onto EA’s FIFA Mobile game, which will offer unique challenges and milestones to hit each week. This information essentially becomes a part of the game, using real-world performance to make the wearer’s in-game Mobile Ultimate Team better.
