Though he’s been rather quiet this year, The Weeknd made his return over the weekend. The crooner returned with not one, but two new tracks. The first, “Heartless,” we shared with you on Friday. Today we take a closer listen to “Blinding Lights.” This one is certainly an interesting one as the artist shows off another side of his sounds. The single is much different than “Heartless,” though he does offering something refreshingly different. Never one to step outside of the box, he does so on this one and nails it.
The track is driven by this energetic, brooding instrumental, pulsating, and catching from beginning to end. The track has a distinct ’80s’ electro-pop feel, while the King of Fall shows off his unique vocal talents. The pulsating track is contagious and unique, one that is sure to get hooked in your head almost instantly. The single is just the latest from The Weeknd, though we hope it’s the beginning of something bigger. No word on where this or “Heartless” might end up, but we will certainly keep you posted. Don’t sleep on this one.
