This Is For Us | The Reilly Arts Center Digital Series Presents: Just Joel

For many of us, music is an escape. It’s somewhere we can go to get away from our reality and completely change our mood in the process. Just Joel isn’t a DJ; he’s a mood maker, an expert at evoking a vibe and touching us through his masterfully concocted mixes of sound. As we’re in the middle of something we’ve never encountered before, socially distanced from friends and family, the Reilly Arts Center decided to provide us with a unique escape. The Reilly Digital Series is a live stream event that showcases some of the incredible talents that #OurOcala has to offer.

Just Joel took over the venue Friday night while the good folks over at the Reilly Arts Center streamed his showcase to our living rooms. This man put on for the city while putting together a collection of music that was deep, emotional, energetic, and brilliantly blended. Tapping into his eclectic range of musical interests, Joel provided a night of music that was nothing short of exceptional, maybe even his best yet.

Just Joel At The Reilly Arts Center

The night started with an uplifting vocal intro over top of Jamie xx’s “Obvs,” before diving into a barrage of incredible material. The entire set lasted just shy of three hours, including tracks like “I Melt With You” by Modern English, “Midnight” by M83, and Ben E. King’s iconic “Stand By Me.” Other standouts such as “This Must Be The Place” by Talking Heads, “Rose Quartz” by Toro y Moi, and Flight Facilities’ “Foreign Language” took things to a whole other level.

Just Joel curated a fitting evening of music, giving us a break from the new normal and giving us a sense of life before COVID-19. If you missed the live stream Friday and need a break from all the coronavirus chatter, we’ve got you covered.

You can check out Just Joel’s entire Reilly Digital Series set in the stream below. Be sure to head over to find out more about the Reilly Digital Series and the Reilly Arts Center right now. Stay tuned for more from #OurOcala coming soon as well. Stay safe and stay healthy. But most importantly, keep vibing!
