Back in 2017 Thundercat arrived with his incredible album ‘DRUNK.’ Since then the artist has stayed busy working on his craft and creating a bevy of new music. Today he makes his return, doing so with a brand new album that is certainly worth your energy. Thundercat dropped off ‘It Is What It Is’ this past Friday. The project is an incredible album that is all about the peaks and valleys of life.
The GRAMMY-winning artist opened up about his album recently. He stated: “[The album] is about love, loss, life, and the ups and downs that come with it.” Thundercat went on to add, “It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life you come across places that you don’t necessarily understand… some things just aren’t meant to be understood.” Along the way the artist provides us with fifteen new tracks.
The opus is led by the singles “Black Qualls,” “Dragonball Durag” and “Fair Chance.” Along the way he’s joined by an array of incredible musicians and artists. Throughout we hear features from Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, Childish Gambino, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil B, Louis Cole, and Zack Fox. Thundercat never disappoints and he certainly doesn’t start with this one.
