Updates & Upgrades | Leica Reveals S3 Medium Format DSLR

The good folks over at Leica are back at it once again. This time around, Leica returns with a big upgrade to their medium format DSLR, the S3. The new S3 offers a bevy of new details, including a 64-megapixel medium format sensor. That marks a 71 percent increase in resolution over its predecessor, providing stunningly crisp details in every shot. Aside from the resolution, the new sensor also increases the camera’s dynamic range by 15 stops. That means the camera features an ISO ceiling of 50,000.

In terms of video, the DSLR can now shoot in 4K for the first time ever, with a full HD 1080p medium format setting for higher frame rates. It also features the brand’s in-house Maestro II processor, which boasts a 2GB memory buffer along with Wi-Fi connectivity and even a built-in GPS. If that wasn’t enough, it’s also compatible with 16 different lenses from Leica’s extensive range of glass. Leica’s new S3 medium format DSLR is now available for pre-order over at Adorama.
