The DMV representative known as Wale is back. This past Friday, the lyricist made his return, offering up a brand new single for our listening pleasures. The track is called “Poke It Out” and finds Wale linking up with North Carolina native J. Cole. This isn’t the first time the two have aligned, and it hopefully won’t be their last.
The track follows up their Free Lunch collaboration, the “My Boy” freestyle from 2018. “Poke It Out” finds the duo picking up where they left off, as each one shows off their respective talents and lyrical prowess. The duo’s previous collaborations include the Jake One-produced “Winter Schemes,” “Beautiful Bliss,” “You Got It,” “Bad Girls Club,” “Black Grammys,” “The Pessimist,” and “Fitted Cap.” The latest track has a fun, energetic appeal that is full of outstanding percussion and infectious melodies. The track even comes with an accompanying video that we don’t suggest sleeping on.
