YBN Cordae – RNP Ft. Anderson .Paak

It’s been a busy Summer for YBN Cordae. The wordsmith dropped off his album, The Lost Boy, and since then, he’s been busy dropping off new visuals for standouts from the project. After serving up the visuals for “Broke As F*ck,” Cordae is back with another one. The wordsmith unveils the video for one of our favorite singles of the year, “RNP,” which features Anderson .Paak. The two showcase their talents over top of an infectious instrumental produced by none other than J. Cole.

The song’s concept came from a conversation between YBN Cordae and his father, who reminded his son that he was living his dream. The video comes to life thanks to the direction of APlus Filmz, the same directorial and production outfit behind the video for “Bad Idea” with Chance The Rapper. Cordae opened up about the track earlier this year. He stated: “I did that jawn with Cole. The beat with Cole, we did it like in Raleigh a whole year ago, and I did a whole completely different song to that beat.”

YBN Cordae Returns!

Cordae went on to say “I played the song for AP [Anderson .Paak], because you know, that’s my brother and we always play each other music. I know he keeps shit a buck. He was like, ‘Yo. I ain’t gon’ lie. I love this beat.’ He didn’t even know Cole produced it.” He wrapped things up by adding, “He was like, ‘I f*cking love this beat, but the song is kind of ass.’ He was like, ‘Yo. I don’t really like the song, but the beat is dope. Man, I love this beat. Let’s do something over it.’ I wasn’t in love with the song. I was spittin’ some shit, but it wasn’t nothing crazy. It was just me on some boom-bap shit. So when I got in the lab with Anderson … We literally did it in the Beats 1 studio in the Apple House, and just went back and forth.”

The video brings the track to life flawlessly, supplying something fitting and eye-catching in the process. Check out the clip in the stream below and look for much more from YBN Cordae coming very soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out “RNP” and more of our favorites on our weekly playlist, ‘A Curation of Sound.’
